Prof. Jochen Tschunke

Chairman of the Supervisory Board

Jochen Tschunke a graduate industrial engineer, was born in 1945 and is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Exasol AG. After studying industrial engineering, Prof Tschunke spent ten years in various management roles at Texas Instruments. In 1983, he established Computer 2000 AG, at the time a pioneer in IT wholesale/distribution and developed the company into the European market leader. He led the company as CEO until 1998 and was responsible for the 1988 IPO. The company was taken over by Tech Data USA in 1998. Since 1999, Jochen Tschunke has been active as a business angel and venture investor. Over the past 20 years, he has also served as chairman and member of various supervisory boards. He advises and assists companies with private equity and venture capital until they are ready for the capital markets and IPO. Jochen Tschunke is currently self-employed in the areas of corporate investments, real estate development and asset management.

He has served as a member of the Supervisory Board since the foundation of Exasol AG in August 2006.


Gerhard Rumpff

Vice Chairman

Born in 1948, Gerhard Rumpff has over 30 years of management experience in global enterprises such as Microsoft, Lotus and IBM. Besides his work as an independent management consultant, Gerhard Rumpff currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Exasol AG.

Before joining Exasol, he was Chairman of the Executive Board and CEO of asknet AG in Karlsruhe and supported the company during its IPO on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in 2006. Gerhard Rumpff joined asknet AG from Microsoft Australia, where he served as Managing Director. In this capacity, he was responsible for Large and Corporate Clients as well as Media & Entertainment. During his career, Mr Rumpff has held other management positions, including Managing Director WebMethods Asia Pacific, General Manager Software IBM Australia/New Zealand and Managing Director Lotus Australia and Central/Eastern Europe.

Gerhard Rumpff has served as a member of the Supervisory Board of Exasol AG since April 2011.


Dr. Knud Klingler


Knud Klingler a business economist was born in 1941 in Timisoara, Romania, and is a member of the Supervisory Board of Exasol AG. After studying business administration at Hochschule für Welthandel in Vienna, Austria, and a period abroad in Leningrad, Russia, Knud Klingler began his career at Mannesmann Export GmbH. From 1970 to 1980, he worked as a financial and management consultant in Nuremberg. Between 1981 and 2000, Dr. Klingler was operationally involved in the creation and management of DELU Deutsche Luftgleitkissen GmbH and SCHUKRA GmbH. Since 1995, he has also been an investor in start-ups such as Biogate GmbH, Bioepiderm GmbH, Plux Optix GmbH, ARA Authentic GmbH, Xilicate GmbH, Marwian GmbH, 310Klinik GmbH, MVZ Radiologie und Nuklearmedizin GmbH. In addition, he is the owner of real estate companies and has been a member of the advisory and supervisory boards of several enterprises; including as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bio-Gate AG until 2017.

He has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Exasol AG since 2008.


Karl Hopfner


Born in Munich in 1952, Karl Hopfner completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk before studying business administration. After completing his studies, Karl Hopfner initially served as Commercial Director of a large German construction company before being promoted to the position of Head of Accounting and Human Resources. Mr Hopfner was full-time Managing Director of FC Bayern München e.V. between 1983 and 2002 and member of the Management Board of FC Bayern München AG from 2002 to December 2012, the last two years serving as Vice Chairman. He became a member of the Supervisory Board of FC Bayern München AG in December 2012 and was elected Chairman in September 2014. He held this position until his departure from the Supervisory Board in February 2017. Karl Hopfner was also President of FC Bayern München e.V., a member of the Board of Directors of Deutsche Fußball Liga and Deutscher Fußballbund, as well as serving on UEFA committees. In addition, from 2014 until March 2018 he was member of the supervisory board of Allianz Beratungs- und Vertriebs-AG.

He is currently Honorary Managing Director of a non-profit company and member of the Advisory Board of Schmidbauer GmbH & Co KG.

Mr Hopfner has served as a member of the Supervisory Board of Exasol AG since June 2018.
